The Nigerian military authority has said that the world still looks up to Nigeria as a peacekeeping giant, despite the security challenges currently facing the nation at home.

It therefore said that, the armed forces will not relent in pursuit of peace in the country or anywhere in the world.

Commandant of the Nigerian Army Peacekeeping Centre (NAPKC), Major General Sanusi Nasir Mu’azu stated this at the graduation of 26 military officers from a two weeks Civil Military Coordination (CIMIC) Course I of 2014.

The course is a special package designed to equip the officers for any peacekeeping or peace support operation.

In his graduation address, General Mu’azu said, “there is no doubt that, Nigeria has continued to play a pivotal role in pursuing peace in Africa and the rest of the world.”

While noting that, Nigeria has continued to play a pivotal role in pursuing peace in Africa and the rest of the world, the Commandant said the training project was timely and relevant.

He commended the government of Japan for funding the project aimed at strengthening the capacity of West Africa’s peace support operation in Nigeria.

The Commandant, therefore charged the 26 participants drawn from the Nigerian Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, Custom, Civil Defence and one civilian from the ministry of defence to build on the acquired knowledge through self-development and reposition themselves for the task ahead.
