The Zamfara State Council of Chiefs has called on the Inspector General of Police for the sake of sustenance of the relative peace being enjoyed in the state, ignore demands by either individuals or groups for the immediate removal of the Commissioner of Police, CP Usman Nagogo.
Zamfara State Chairman, Council of Chiefs who doubles as Emir of Zamfara-Anka, Alhaji Attahiru Muhammad Ahmad made the appeal at a press conference yesterday, saying that,” information reaching the Council indicated that, there are secret activities by some politicians aimed at effectuating the redeployment of the state Commissioner of Police.”
“We are aware that, some unpatriotic politicians have embarked on movements in their efforts to entice the Inspector General of Police to direct for the immediate transfer of the Commissioner of Police, CP Usman Nagogo.
“If succeeded, the Peace Initiative for Resolution which was actively supported by the Commissioner of Police that led to the restoration of peace in Zamfara State, may derail and cause the return of merciless killings, kidnappings and cattle rustling.
“The deployment of CP Usman Nagogo to Zamfara State served as a great success especially to the present Governor Matawalle-led administration which embarked upon crusades to ensure total restoration of peace through dialogues with the leadership of banditry and kidnappings.
“The active participation of CP Nagogo in the battles against banditry and other heinous crimes in Zamfara in the year 2016 when he served as Deputy Commissioner of Police, has tremendously earned him formidable knowledge to within shortest time possible help to return the lost law and order in the state,” the chairman stated.
The emir further claimed that, before the deployment of CP Nagogo, the state was ungovernable as there was not an enterprising area in the state where legitimate businesses could be run, the development which according to him, had compelled thousands of people to fled for safety.
