All Progressive Congress (APC) stalwart and Coordinator Inter Governmental Affairs to Niger State Governor, Muhammad Awaisu Kura, has advocated for the recruitment of more police personnel and synergy among security outfits if Nigeria must succeed in fighting insecurity.
Awaisu Kura made this known while speaking to journalists in Minna on the insecurity situations in the country, where he called for concern, just as he said the needed equipments should be provided for the security personnel to be able to fight bandits, Boko Haram and kidnapping in Nigeria.
He explained that the security personnel needed to be trained on the new methods of detection to forestall the current insecurity challenges confronting the nation, adding that 3,070 police officers was grossly inadequate to provide the required security for the lives and properties of almost 200 million people.
Awaisu however suggested for a synergy amongst the security agencies if security of lives and properties most be achieved in Nigeria, while lamenting that different security agencies saddle with the safety of the citizens are operating independently, which he said does not mean well for the situation of the country.
The APC stalwart blamed the federal government for not doing enough as promised by President Muhammadu Buhari in terms of providing security, hence the escalation of insecurity in Nigeria.
He challenged the federal government for not been able to procure sophisticated weapons for the teaming security agencies to over power the insurgency, alleging that security operatives were perpetually in fear of attack from the bandits, calling for the reversal of such trends.
Awaisu who explained that a situation whereby the subordinates in security agencies does not tell their bosses the true picture of happenings during operations is hindering the war on insecurity, added that the reinstallation of toll gates in Nigeria would help in providing security.
He backed the call for community policing, but said it must be adequately equipped to be able to counter any unforeseen circumstances if it must achieved its set objectives. He urged the citizens to give their maximum support and understanding to the security agents, warning that they cannot do it alone.
