the authorities of the federal capital territory administration, FCTA, have relocated the Government Science Secondary School Pyakassa to Maitama district where conducive and adequate study center have been provided.
Accordingly, the new facilities in Maitama will also provide good accommodation for the students in a well secured environment.
According to the Director, FCT Department of Science and Technology, Mrs. Rosemary Umana, the action became necessary, due to non-conducive learning environment in Pyakassa, which is not good for the study of science and technical classes.
“We commenced the plan to relocate the school long ago since the concern for insecurity rose to alarming rate. And as a result, all staff of the department were mobilised to work tirelessly in order to achieve the result.
“Our staff worked every day including weekends and holidays to ensure that the school were relocated successfully,” she maintained.
She explained that during their stay in Pyakassa, the students were exposed to all manner of attacks, due to the fact that the school is not fenced, and little security is provided in the school.
Also, she noted that moving the entire school to Maitama, within the premises of Maitama Model Science School, though not fully completed was a better choice than the previous place in Pyakassa.
She therefore urged the students to ensure quick adaptation to the new environment.
Furthermore, she admonished the students to maintain their usual high standard of academics, and not allow the new environment influence them in any negative way.
