The Chairman of Yoruba Traditional Council of Obas and Chiefs in the 19 northern states and Abuja Ambassador Mohammed Arigbabuwo has identified insecurity as the major factor responsible for underdevelopment in the north.
He made the assertion during a press conference held in Kaduna yesterday.
According to the royal father, the north used to be the food basket of the nation and main suppliers of agriculture products.
He expressed dismay that the activities of insurgents, bandits and kidnappers have made the region uncomfortable for farming.
Arigbabuwo said that for the north to regain its lost glory, security must be restore in the region.
The traditional rulers pleaded with leaders from the region to embrace the spirit of forgiveness and forgive each other for the region to move forward.
He added that it is time for Northerners to practice the dictates of their faith by been honest before God and men.
He advised governors from the region to close rank with President Muhammadu Buhari for the betterment of the region.
Ambassador Arigbabuwo felicitated with the new leaderships of the National Assembly, calling on them to enact laws that will benefit the common man.
He commended members of the security agencies for their efforts in keeping the country secure.
The monarch called on President Muhammadu Buhari to address the issues of the welfare of security agencies to encourage them to be more committed.
