The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the issuance of the cards, which began on Monday, was scheduled to end on Wednesday.
The commission had supplied only two million cards out of the 3.5 million to be issued to verified voters in the state.
It had said that the balance of 1.5 million cards would be supplied to it at a later date from Lagos.
Consequently, the issuance of the cards has not commenced in many polling units across the state.
The commission, in a statement signed by the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Halliru Tambawel, made available to NAN in Kaduna, stated that lapses emanated from it and would, therefore, “not penalise the general public through no fault of theirs”.
It stated that the exercise would not end on Wednesday in places it was yet to start.
It said “the commencement of the exercise in any local government area, wards and polling units affected will be the first day of the exercise in such areas”. (NAN)
