The imposition of any candidate without following due process will truncate the chances of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) not only in Kaduna state but at the national level, Kaduna Integrity Youth Movement (KADYM) has told PDP.
KADYM made the assertion during a press briefing held in Kaduna yesterday.
The statement read by the administrative secretary of the group, Clement Kuliyak, was apparently in reaction to the purported plan to endorse of Kaduna state governor, Alhaji Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state.
He said such decision is unconstitutional and against the interest of the people of the state.
“State leadership is exposing itself as being partisan in the matter and hence it is unfit to give any purposeful leadership for the party for the good people of Kaduna state.
“We see such an arrangement as a betrayal and an attempt to jeopardize the political fortune of the generality of the people of Kaduna state, especially the good people of Kaduna state.
“Without any iota of doubt the present administration has failed the good people of Kaduna state by not keeping the promises to build on the solid foundation put in place by late Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa, therefore, it will amount to a capital joke those in the helm of the affairs of the state intends to contest in the forthcoming general election, especially, when the late Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa, tried to unite the citizens of Kaduna and what you find on ground today, is divisive elements,” the group said.
Speaking on the security situation in Kaduna state, the group called on the state government to immediately perform its primary duty of protecting lives and property as enshrined in the 1999 constitution by protecting all lives and property.
It added that it is only by doing this that the barbaric, brutal and senseless killings of armless and defenseless people of Kaduna state will be curtailed.
