From Ahmed Idris, Birnin Kebbi
There was a mild drama and impasse at the All Progressives Congress [APC] party Secretariat in Birnin Kebbi yesterday as violence erupted when a party chieftain, Alhaji Sani Zauro Hukuma was manhandled by supporters suspected to be of a faction belonging to one Bashir Matawalle Argungu, which marred the declaration of intent of a gubernatorial aspirant, Alhaji Sadeeq Sule Sami Zuru.
The free for all fight that lasted for about an hour at the party’s secretariat along Emir Haruna road Birnin Kebbi, scared many supporters who flee for their lives thereby making the declaration by the aspirant witnessed a low turnout of supporters.
“We were all seated at the party chairman’s office awaiting the arrivals of the gubernatorial aspirant Sadeeq Zuru where he will make a formal declaration then all of a sudden we noticed two buses loaded with young men and before knowing what, they just bounced on our party elder, Alhaji Sani Zauro” disclosed an eye witness.
He however, attributed the incident to instigations of the youth by a leader of a faction, Alhaji Bashir Matawalle Argungu, in order to cause ciaos and disunity amongst members of the party.
Addressing party members, a onetime member representing Birnin Kebbi/Kalgo/Bunza federal constituency at the National Assembly, Alhaji Bello Bagudu, called on supporters to live in peace with one another as the party prepares for 2014 general elections.
He solicited for the cooperation of the working journalists in the state to assist the party in propagating it aims and objectives geared towards salvaging the masses of the country.
“We shall by the grace of God liberate them from the hands of the monsters, the PDP” adding that the PDP had misruled the country for over a decade and that the citizens were already fed up with the ruling party and needed change.
Bello, further declared that only the APC could deliver a purposeful leadership across the nation regardless of geo-political zone or political inclinations.
