Kaduna Command of the Nigeria Immigration Services has repatriated 1,500 illegal immigrants from February 2014 to date.
The State Controller of Immigration Service, Mr. Nuhu Apang-Takum disclosed this while briefing the media in Kaduna over the weekend.
According to Mr. Takum, majority of the illegal migrants are from Africa, especially sub- Saharan countries that fled their countries to seek better opportunity.
The controller also disclosed that the command has trained 1,000 elite border patrol corps to ensure positive results.
Commenting on the ongoing National Identity Card registration, Mr. Takum said the registration will help in check mating non Nigerians participating in the 2015 general election, saying the exercise is only capturing Nigerians.
He assured the National Identity Card Management Commission (NIMC) of the service, readiness to partner with the commission in order to have acceptable result, stressing that there was need to ensure comprehensive enlightenment and mobilization in order to achieve desired result.
“Federal Government deserves to be commended in the provision of logistics and other infrastructure for data capturing. The National Identity card registration system has made Nigerians to be oriented and friendly”, he said.
