Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Katsina state Command, yesterday paraded a human trafficking kingpin, Muntari Hamidu and five of his victims that were nabbed along Kongolom-Niger Republic Border.
Parading the suspect before newsmen, the Katsina Comptroller of Immigration Service, Mr. Emmanuel N. Ogbumuo, noted that the suspect were arrested as a result of painstaking intelligence and monitoring mounted by the service.
He noted that, apart from the kingpin, Hamidu victims of the neferous crime arrested that were all from Edo State include three girls, Faith Idemude, 21, Gift Osagwe, 22 and Joy Osifo, 22 while the boys include Esosa Atiba, 23 and Jerry Igiewe, 25.
Ogbumuo stressed that the kingpin was arrested at the Maimujiya, a border town in Niger Republic through the combined effort of the service border patrol team and the Nigerien police.
The Comptroller, who disclosed that they have for long beam their search light on the kingpin, added that it was through combine efforts of the security personnel at the border post that they were able to apprehend him.
He stated that, although the Nigerian border is expansive, the Service, according to him, would continue to do its best in monitoring all entry points, adding that recently, the service trained 1000 elites border patrol corps.
