The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu Abubakar has on Wednesday expressed the readiness of police to re-strategize and ensure that Katsina is a crime free state.
Abubakar made this assertion while addressing officers and men of the command yesterday in Katsina.
He described the recent happening in Kankara where some students of the Government Science Secondary school were kidnapped as an unfortunate situation.
According to him, we have resolved that, should never allow such a thing to happen again in the state.
“And for us to do that, I felt I should come and re-strategize with the officers and men, especially, the tactical unit, the area commanders, the Divisional Police Officers and the Commanders of Operation Puff Adder”.
The IGP who noted that, Internal security is the role of the police to maintain law and order, said as the lead agency “we should never give any opportunity for criminals to strive”.
“Recently we have seen acts of banditry moving from the epicenter that we use to know and they are converging in Katsina and we have resolved not to allow that”.
“We need to strategize with other stakeholders, the citizens of the state, our cooperative partners like the Miyetti Allah and other law enforcement agencies to ensure every nooks and crannies of the state are properly manned”, he added.
However the meeting later went into a closed door with the officers and men where the details of the strategies were disclosed out of the hearing and view of the press.
