A leader of the defunct Congress for Progressive change (CPC), Comrade Godwin Erhahon has urged Nigerians to support President Muhammadu Buhari-led government in bringing looters of public funds to book.
Erhahon, Patron of Buhari Friends Organisation Network (BFON) said in a statement made available to journalists in Benin City, the Edo state Capital, that he recalled that in demonstration of his love for Igbos, Muhammadu Buhari, picked Igbo leaders twice out of the four attempts he made before he became President of Nigeria in 2015.
According to him, Buhari had picked the late former Senate President of Nigeria, Sen. Chuba Okadigbo as his Presidential running mate in 2003 and again picked the late Chief Edwin Ume-Ezioke as his running mate in the 2007 Presidential election which he also lost. Regrettably, “yet, the Ibos rejected him (Buhari) so much that only three persons voted for him in Ume-Ezioke’s village”, a development which Erhahon said the recent defection of Emeka Ojukwu (junior) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is expected to correct.
He also described President Muhammadu Buhari recent visit to Ebonyi State, Eastern Nigeria, as event that marks political re-birth and U-turn to progressive politics. In the statement titled: “Thank you Igbos for reciprocating President Buhari’s love”, Erhahon specifically challenged
the Igbo ethnic group to show commitment towards the unity of Country, with a charge on “all Patriotic Ibo leaders to persuade the president to see reelection in 2019 Presidential poll.
