After being handed the role of head coach/technical adviser at Kano Pillars on a permanent basis following a mid-table finish in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) last season, Ibrahim Musa is confident of building a successful tenure.
Kadiri Ikhana and Mohammed Baba Ganaru are already cult heroes with Kano Pillars faithful and Musa who has been in the background since 1996 with different coaches at the club now feels he can build on previous achievements of the club and start his own reign.
However Musa will have to work with the likes of Ahmed Garba also known as Yaro Yaro now chief coach, Christopher Friday as assistant coach and goalkeeper trainer Aliyu Muzambilu as well as Kabiru Baleria as team manager.
A delighted Musa said the wealth of experience garnered from past technical experts, who had managed the team will be the mainstay to drive his team to glory next season.
“I started in this club as a young coach since 1996 and I am proud to work under the likes of Justin Tenger, Salisu Yusuf, Kadiri Ikhana, Baba Ganaru, Ladan Bosso, Abdu Maikaba and Okey Emordi.

“This chain of tacticians built my courage to acquire a great knowledge that is celebrated today. It was the benefit of loyalty and patience that took me this far. I was also a beneficiary of a coaching course abroad sponsored by the Kano Pillars board. My aim is to take them through the bloodline to play a prominent role like my predecessors.
“It is now for my technical team to set the ball rolling and the only option is moving Pillars forward. Our major target is to win something or possibly finish as one of the top three teams in the league and bounce back to the continent,” Musa told
Musa gave assurance that the current Pillars squad will immediately be reshuffled as the club are already discussing with some star players from different NPFL clubs.
He stated that the need is geared at meeting a set standard required for the new league season.
Based on the report of the new technical crew, the club had agreed to retain only 22 players out of the 35 registered last term.
Meanwhile players with expired loan deals will not be considered for permanent deals.
Kano Pillars have since resumed pre-season programme on 9 October.
