Mohammed and Halima Babangida, children of General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida have joined the campaign train of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Niger State ahead of the forthcoming guber election.

The presence of the children of the statesman at the gubernatorial campaign of Alhaji Umar Mohammed Nasko at Kampala, in Bosso local government area yesterday may have indicated the full support of IBB to the aspiration of PDP guber candidate.

Mohammed who was earlier named as the Director of the Finance Committee for the governorship campaign was on the podium with the candidate but did not say a word at the event.

The joining of the campaign team of the PDP put paid to speculations that their father is not sympathetic to the PDP.

Addressing the large crowd of party supporters, Nasko promised to provide more social amenities to the people of Bosso local government if voted into office come February, adding that he voluntarily entered a pact with the people of the state, reassuring that he will not fail them in the fulfillment of his campaign promises.

Governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu who is also the PDP Senatorial candidate for next month’s election in the zone, assured the community that a transformer will be provided to the people immediately so as to connect them to the national grid.

Governor Aliyu decried the trend where some politicians are using religious and tribal sentiments to deceive the electorate, adding that his administration treated all religious and ethnic groups equally since it came on board in 2007.

“Niger State has remained peaceful because of equal opportunities given to everyone in the state” he said.
