Ibadan Violence: Your evil plans will fail, Oyo APC tells opposition

By Taofeek Lawal

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has berated the opposition parties in the state for allegedly celebrating the reported violent attacks on some security agents by some yet-to-be-identified political thugs at Oke-Ado area of Ibadan city last Friday at a time when Governor Abiola Ajimobi was being expected at Ibadan South West local government council to round off his state-wide tour.

In a statement issued yesterday by its Director of Publicity and Strategy, Olawale Sadare, the ruling APC regretted that reactions to the unfortunate incident coming from some opposition elements in Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Accord Party (AP) and Labour Party (LP) have indicated that they were united in wishing for the return of political violence, wanton killings and lawlessness to the state in their respective bid to hijack power at all cost.

“It is unfortunate that opposition elements in PDP, AP and LP have not left anyone in doubt of their exhilaration over the ugly incident of last Friday at Oke-Ado. Apparently, they all know more than what they have been telling the public since the trio have taken the public by assuming the roles of the media and security agents regarding reportage of the event right from the word ‘go’ and subsequent investigations to reveal the culprits even without any concrete evidence.

“The Friday violent attack was a clear case of sabotage aimed at discrediting the achievement of the present administration in the area of peace and security. As if that was not enough, the same set of evil minded characters unleashed terror on the residents of Born Photo, Popo Yemoja, Idi Arere and environs at the weekend. In all of this, their plan is to create an impression that the state is unsafe and insecure. Nevertheless, we trust the Police and relevant security agencies to dig deep and unmask the sponsors of the ugly violence in order to guide against re-introduction of barbarism and lawlessness into the politics of the pacesetter state.

“Meanwhile, our great party takes solace in the fact that the discerning public did not buy the falsehood from these unscrupulous characters. Our people certainly know a party which once turned Oyo State into a theatre of war where impunity, indecency and corruption reigned supreme. They also know a party whose leader took the people through the excruciating pains of avoidable political unrest, loss of innocent lives and fantasy. Equally, they know a spineless party peopled by aimless and wayward political comedians.” APC stated.
