Governor Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau state has said he will not by any circumstance defect from his ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Lalong who spoke on Monday on the morning service of Voice of America (VOA) monitored by Peoples Daily, reiterated that he remained a bona fide member of the APC.
Lalong was a member of the PDP during his two-term Speakership in the Plateau state House of Assembly between 1999 to 2007.
But closed to 2015 general elections, he decamped to APC and elected Governor under the party.
“We are part of those who formed the APC and can’t leave for PDP. I am still a bona fide member of the party, “ Lalong told VOA.
The governor was responding to a question of a rumour making the round that he is planning to defect to PDP since his Benue State counterpart, Samuel Otorm, had defected to PDP.
“That story was just a rumour. It is not true. We have suffered to bring the party to the state and we can’t leave it. I was once in PDP but left the party because it was not sincere. So I can’t go back to it , “Lalong added.
He expressed his total support to President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC.
“I am together with Buhari. I am solidly behind him and our great party APC”, he said.
