Following the defection of the current chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Alhaji Adamu Mustapha Danze from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to the ruling party All Progressives Congress (APC), the former chairman of the Area Council, Hon. Abubakar Jibrin Giri, who is a bonifide member of APC, has said he would not decamp to any political party in the area.
He said this in an interview with newsmen during the APC caucus meeting in Gwagwalada, saying the APC leaders met in order to deliberate on the defection of the Present chairman of Gwagwalada to APC.
His words: “In fact, we gathered today to let the people know what happened on Wednesday being the 19th of June, 2018. The leaders of APC in Gwagwalada Area Council just heard on the air that the executive chairman of Gwagwalada who is a member of APGA had dumped his party and joined APC. Some of the leaders of APC were seriously annoyed. So, as a leader of the party in Gwagwalada I called the APC stakeholders to inform them on the development, because some APC members were blaming the APC state chairman, some were blaming the FCT Minister and some were blaming the President. So, we have to come out clearly to tell the people that the blame should not go to the APC state chairman, because the instruction was given to him by the FCT Minister and that was why the state chairman received the executive chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council.
“We all know that he did not follow the due process. The executive chairman supposed to be received from his ward to the Area Council level before the state level”.
He said: “The current chairman of Gwagwalada is still a leader of APGA in the area, because the FCT Minister cannot impose the present chairman on us”. So, we the APC leaders/members did not recognize the present chairman of the Area Council as a member of APC”.
He said the APC executives/members would remain in the party until after 2019 general elections, urging the members to embrace APC for now.
