This were the words of Ugochukwu Felix, 28, a self-confessed member of a five-man robbery gang that has been terrorizing Ajegunle, Apapa and its environs.
Ugochukwu was arrested in Tolu area in Ajegunle after members of his gang allegedly snatched a Toyota Honda car owned by a resident (names withheld) in the area. Unfortunately for the suspected members of the gang, they were involved in an accident after snatching the vehicle. . While other members of the gang managed to escape, Ugochukwu was not that lucky as he was apprehended by an angry mob.
In an interview with journalists, the suspect claimed he was under a spell. Confessing to the crime, Ugochukwu who is currently cooling off at the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS), Ikeja after he was arrested said that his journey into crime started several years back when he began as a pick pocket. From picking pocket, he graduated into ‘one chance operations’ and then, to a full-fledged armed robber.
“I promised my God to deliver me and if God can save me from this, I will never go back into robbery again. If I get out from this place in one piece, I will go to my father and ask for forgiveness. I plead with youths to shun bad company and live responsibly,” he stated while shedding tears. (NAN)
