Ahead of 2019 general elections, Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, yesterday appealed to politicians vying for political offices to shun differences and play politics without bitterness which he described as a sustainable democracy.
Governor Dankwambo made the appeal at the Government House Executive Chamber in Gombe, while marking this year Sallah celebration as success.
According to him, “We are in the era of politics, there is need for politicians across the country to repose sense of belonging by playing politics without bitterness in ensuring that peace and harmony prevail in the society”.
He said without peaceful coexistence among people, there will be no meaningful development.
While thanking God for sustaining the lives of muslims faithful to see this year Sallah celebration, Dankwambo called for prayer for pilgrims attending Hajj in Mecca.
Our correspondent reports that the celebration was attracted by top government functionaries, corporate bodies and individuals.
The Emir of Gombe, Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, in his speech to mark Sallah celebration, called on the people to support government and its programmes to ensure development in the state.
He said clashes between farmers and herdsmen have reduced drastically in Gombe, of which he called on the people to be their brothers’ keepers by loving one another in order to maintain peace and tranquility in the state.
