Kaduna State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old house wife, Aisha Tanko, for stabbing her husband Yahaya Abdullahi Maiyaki, following disagreement.
The Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, DSP Yakubu Sabo, disclosed this while speaking to our correspondent in Kaduna yesterday.
According to him, the suspect was arrested following report at the Magaji Gari Police Division that the mother of 1, stabbed her husband over domestic issue.
DSP Sabo added that the case has been transferred to the Criminals Investigating Department of the Command for further investigations and that the suspect will be charged to court after the conclusion of the investigation.
It will be recalled that Aisha Tanko, a nurse by profession and resident of Kaduna metropolis allegedly stabbed her husband, Yahaya Abdullahi Maiyaki, 43, over domestic issue.
It was gathered that the attempted murder was carried out at about 8:00 am, Friday, after the husband returned home from early morning prayer at a mosque close to the couple’s residence at popular Sardauna Crescent, Kaduna North local government area of Kaduna state.
Unknown to him, the wife had already prepared hot water ready, but when she attempted to bath the husband with it and failed due to suspicion, she then resulted to stabbing to achieve her aim.
Narrating the episode to journalists, younger brother of the husband and one time Director General of Media and Publicity to a Governor in Kaduna, Ahmed Maiyaki, said the matter has been reported to the police authority in the state.
According to him, “yes, this morning, when my elder brother came back from morning prayer, his wife had boiled water to pour on him. But somehow, he was able to escape that.
“But, as she was approaching with the hot water, she also armed herself with knife. So, when the hot water mission failed, she stabbed her at the lower abdomen twice and ran away.
“They had a misunderstanding sometimes ago. They had another one yesterday. It has nothing to do with polygamy
“My brother is on admission at a private hospital here in Kaduna. We have reported the matter to the police and they have already commenced investigation on the matter,” he said.
