Niger state Ministry of Sports Development has approved the appointment of a member Representing Lavun/Mokwa/Edati Federal Constituency, Niger state, Honourable Sani Mohammed Idris Legbo Kutigi as the Chairman of Hockey Association of the state.
This was contained in a letter signed by the permanent secretary of Niger state ministry of sports development, Mr John Tamaha. “The ministry of sports Development has approved your appointment as Chairman of the above association. Your appointment is based on merit and keen interest in promoting sporting activities in Niger state in particular and Nigeria as a whole.
“The ministry is counting on your wealth of experience to be wielded in the development of sports in the state and take Niger state to the next level based on our vision 3:20:20. We hope through your commitment and dedication as we prepare for major competitions and more especially the 19th National Sports Festival tagged ‘Paradise Games’ holding in Calabar laurels would be won and placed Niger state amongst the first 10 on the medal table. “
Speaking with journalists, Kutigi said the appointment is a call to duty, adding that he would use his wealth of experience and contact for the benefit of the association. “I see this appointment as yet another call to duty. I will use my time and resources to support the association. I know the critical role of sport in development of our society. It promotes unity; creates team spirit and avenue for genuine means of livelihood for youth.”
