Some Fulani herdsmen have allegedly attacked two persons with cutlass at Gosa market, in Gosa community, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
It was gathered that the victims; one Mr. Yakubu Dauda Bamaiyi, a vigilante and another man, Mr. Sani Adam (Hausa man), sustained different degrees of machete cuts from the attack that occurred at the weekend.
Speaking to Peoples Daily, the Chief in charge of Gosa market, Mr. Wakili Istifanus who confirmed the incident, said that trouble started when the said Hausa man was having heated argument with a Fulani woman selling food in the market.
He explained that the suspected attackers injured the vigilante man, when he attempted to intervene and stop an imminent fight between the said herdsmen and Hausas in the market.
He also disclosed that some those involved in the fracas were arrested by the police, pointing out that the wounded were taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Istifanus, however, advised the people of Gosa community not to take advantage of the perennial communal crisis in the land, to ferment troubles at Gosa market.
On his reaction, the spokesman of the Chief of Fulani community in the area, Mallam Usman Kaduna, appealed to the entire residents of Gosa community to remain calm, in order for peace to reign in the area.
He however called on the men of police to do everything possible to bring the alleged perpetrators to book.
