An Abuja based Non Governmental Organization (NGO) Helpline Foundation for the Needy has called for more support towards improving the lives of the vulnerable women especially the Widows in the society.
The Foundation noted that caring for the widows and other vulnerable women which become her petty project will reduce poverty and improve standard of living among women in the society.
Helpline President, Dr. Jumai Ahmadu, made this known during an outing with some widows, to mark her birthday celebration, at the weekend in Abuja.
Ahmadu, who is also Head of FCT Call Centre noted that over two hundred and fifty widows were trained in production of various household items to commemorate her birthday.
Also speaking on the sideline of the occasion, Acting Secretary, FCT Social Development Secretariat, Sayfia Umar, described Jumai Ahmadu as a charitable woman per excellence.
Umar while urging other women and stakeholders to emulate Helpline Foundation President, opined that widows are mostly faced with physical and psychological issues, which require serious assistance to resolve.
