Gwagwalada chair bags traditional title

The chairman of Gwagwalada area council in the FCT, Hon Abubakar Jibrin Giri, has been conferred with a traditional title of “Wambeyi” Giri Magaji.

Performing the coronation ceremony, the Etsu (chief) of Girimagaji, Alhaji Abu Dasheni, said“he has bestowed the traditional title on the chairman based on his outstanding contributions towards the development of the community”.

He said the administration of Honourable Abubakar Jirin Giri has brought transformation to the people of Giri by providing them with transformers as well as potable drinking water.

Etsu called on the youths to continue to live in peace with one another irrespective of their tribal and political differences.

Responding, the chairman of the area council, Hon. Abubakar Jibrin Giri thanked the Etsu and the community for honouringhim.

He urged the traditional rulers in the community to come together irrespective of their status to move the community to the next level, and carrying their subjects along.

He said that the present administration of the council would continue to give priority attention to the welfare of the royal fathers in Gwagwalada and its environs.

Similarly, the community leader of Gyagba, Mallam DahiruIyah, the community leader of Dimisi, Mr. NasiruYunusa and the community leader of Gubi, Mr. Bitrus Amada, urged the chairman to redouble his efforts to provide basic amenities in the area.

They appealed to the chairman to join hands with the FCT Administration to build a senior secondary school to deter the children from travelling to the neighboring villages to attend the schools.

The further called on the chairman to build a standard health center in Giri to enable the residents have access to medical treatment in the community.

They therefore, warned the youths against any act capable of causing rancor and acrimony in the area, they described the youths as the future leaders of tomorrow.
