Gunmen kill 6, kidnap sons of NASS member in Zamfara

Unidentified gunmen riding motorbikes have invaded Goron Namaye village under Maradun local government area of Zamfara state killing six people after kidnapping two biological sons of a House of Representatives member representing Bakura/Maradun local government, Honorable Yahaya Chado Goron Namaye last Sunday.
According to an eyewitness account who spoke under anonymity,, “The bike-riding gunmen invaded the village in large numbers around 2:30am last Sunday and they directly headed to the house of the member of Representatives where they picked 2 of his sons identified as Junaidu Yahya Chado and Nasiru Yahaya Chado.
“On their arrival, they began to shot sporadically to clear escape routes with the victims and eventually succeeded, in the course of making their mission consolidated, they fired against some good Samaritans who attempted to block their exit, killing six out of them instantly and injuring ten,” the eye witness said.
He further accounted that, one of the kidnapped young men was later released with a view to deliver a message to his father adding that, “A source close to the family told me that, the call was made and the gunmen have demanded the sum of 10 million naira ransom from the legislator”.
Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Zamfara Police Command, DSP Shehu Muhammad confirmed the incidence, saying only 3 people were killed as six others sustained gunshot wounds and were receiving medical treatment.
The PPRO said that, a joint taskforce have already been deployed to the village to maintain law and order.
“The Command is still working tirelessly to ensure adequate security of lives and property, therefore calling on the general public to always reports any questionable movement for prompt action,” he explained.
