Nasarawa state came under fresh attack yesterday as about 32 people were feared killed by unknown gunmen.
The attack was said to have occurred on Sunday evening when the gunmen shot down some Eggon villagers in an ambush at Arikya-Soni in Lafia East Development Area of Nasarawa State at about 3pm.
It was gathered that the villagers were returning from their farm when the attackers, who were said to be armed with AK 47 rifles, attacked the villagers, killing scores of them and went away with nine motorcycles belonging to the deceased persons.
Investigation indicated that those that were killed hailed from Umme, Arugbadu and Bakyano villages all in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area.
The bodies of slaughtered villagers were said to have been recovered and buried at Umme, amid wailing from family members and sympathisers.
Addressing journalists on Sunday, a resident from Arugbadu, Habibu Mohammed disclosed that that he was returning from the farm along with his parents when the herdsmen opened fire on them at Rugbadu.
The Nasarawa state police spokesman, Ismaila Numan comfirmed the attck but could not give details of the casualty.
