Senior Special Assistant ( SSA) to Delta State Governor on Youth Development, Mr Uteme Bateren at the weekend escaped death by whiskers when gunmen suspected to be assassins invaded his home around Oteri Community Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state, carting away property worth millions of Naira
It was gathered that the suspects resorted to destroying the property and building of building of the Batrean as they allegedly carted away an elephant tusk inherited from his great grandfather, gold jewelries, a DSTV explorer decoder and a 42 inches LG plasma.
Narrating his ordeal, Uteme Bateren who appealed to the security agents to fish out the perpetrators and make them to face the wrath of the law, disclosed that the suspects were out for assassination, adding” I was told by neighbours that they saw the suspects before destroying and carting away my father’s property at about 1.30am on June 9.
The tomb of my late father, the louvres and doors of the entire building were destroyed by the suspects and my joy is that at time they came nobody was at home, I immediately went to the Ughelli Police Area Command to report the incident and a team of mobile policemen was drafted to the scene to ascertain the level of destruction.
I am appealing to security agencies to unmask the perpetrators and bring them to face the wrath of the law.”
The state Police Commissioner, Hafiz Muhammed Inuwah who confirmed the incident said investigation was ongoing with a view to bringing those responsible for the evil act to book.
