The Plateau Initiative for Peace yesterday asked the Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Barrister Solomon Dalung to call his Chief of Staff, Maiwada Dammallam to order over what they described allegedly as “political incitement to violence in Plateau State.”
The group through its President, Bulus Zet told journalists that Dammallam, an indigene of Katsina State was allegedly causing disaffection in Plateau by constantly heaping on the government and inciting youths to violence through unsubstantiated allegations.
According to the group, Dammallam had through his Face book page attacked the Lalong led administration soon after the Governor’s recent altercation with Dalung in a statement he titled ‘Governor Lalong: Between Absentiesm and Governance.’
However, the group yesterday asked, “what is the interest of this man on the Plateau that he wants to provoke crisis on the Plateau? This is because we have checked and we have not seen anywhere where he had in the past, even when the state was dangling on the precipice issued any statement on behalf of the good people of Plateau. So what is his interest now since his supposed intervention on Plateau affairs has no records but is coming at this time when the state is enjoying peace?”
It added that, “If this man’s insults on the people and government of Plateau is borne out of patriotism then what has he said about the government of his home state of Katsina both now and in the past which have been in the news for the wrong reasons?”
Zet who read the group’s statement explained that having perused all of Dammallam’s statements, “we find none factual but we can say with authority, that they are rubbish piled up by those who do not wish Plateau well and the use of an imported mercenary to achieve that is all too clear.”
“The minister must call this aide to order because it is clear that he does not mean well for the people and government of Plateau. His duplicity and sinister motives are demonstrated in the fact that he issues statements and counters himself using another name then goes back to reply himself on the guise that it is the governor’s media aides that are responding so as to accord him the chance to further launch into bouts of disrespectful tirades on the government and people of Plateau,” the statement reads.
They urged Dalung to call his aide to order as well as urged the state government not to hesitate in his arrest and charged to court for incitement.
