A political group known as the Ta’al Project 2015 at the weekend staged a mega rally in Lafia in honour of Governor Umaru Tanko Al-makura, calling on him to re-contest the seat of the governor in 2015.
The rally which took place at the college of Agriculture in Lafia, brought dignitaries both far and near including elders and youths across the southern senatorial district of the state.
Rallies in support of the governor by supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have already taken place at the western and northern senatorial zone only to climax in the mega rally in Lafia the state capital.
Addressing the crowd, former Governor of Benue State, Senator George Akume who chaired the event, commended Al-makura for his quality works particularly in the education sector, stressing that primary school structures are now looking like tertiary institutions.
Also speaking at rally, the APC state chairman, Philip Shekwo Tatari, thanked the people of the southern senatorial district for the call and urged them to work hard to ensure that the governor did not only emerge as the party’s flag bearer, but as well as retaining his position as governor of the state come 2015.
According to him, “We will not allow our opponents to take power from us and take us back to darkness since we have now seen the light”.
Shekwo maintained that Al-makura is the light that has shined on Nasarawa, delivering the people from the bondage of corruption and deceit while calling on the electorate to go and collect their permanent voter card that is scheduled to commence on 7th to 9th November 2015.
Earlier on, Justice Mamman Garba, leader of the Ta’al Project 2015, pleaded with the Governor to graciously answer their call and not to be distracted by the crisis bedeviling the state, commending Al-makura also for his developmental achievements across the state.
An APC stalwart, Eng. Buba Galadima blamed the prolonged crisis in Nasarawa State to the antics of the opposition who do not want peace in the state, adding that since politics is for continuity, they should massively support a visionary leader like Al-makura in 2015.
