A youth political pressure group, Advocate for Collective Transformation ACT, has called on youths in the country to participate actively in politics for development of the country.
Specifically, the group called on youths in the six states of the South West geo political zone to participate in the 2015 general elections.
The group National Coordinator, Mr Oluwatayo Fashogbon speaking during the Inauguration Of its Osun State Chapter In Osogbo, stressed the need to youths to show interest in politics.
He also encouraged youths to seek elective political office in the next year’s general election, stressing that the future of the country should not be placed in the hands of the aged.
According to him the present crop of Nigerian leaders are selfish individuals who are only after their children.
Fashogbon noted that the current occupants of political offices in the country are preparing their children to take after them.
He urged the youths to take up the challenges of leadership and participate in all political activities ahead of the next year’s election.
While expressing concern on the negligence of youths in politics, ACT South West Coordinator Kunle Adepoju, encouraged Nigerian youths to team up to challenge poor governance in the country.
Adepoju said the youths must ensure that only the best candidates occupy political offices through electoral process.
