From Uche Nnorom, Makurdi

A group known as Tiv Professional Group (TPG) has lamented that Nigeria lost an estimated 14 billion dollars while states directly affected by Fulani herdsmen terrorism has lost an average of 47 percent of their internally generated revenue, IGR.
The group made the lamentation during a press conference in Makurdi at the weekend.
Chairman of the group Prof. Zacharis Gundu noted that the local economy suffers as a result of pastoralism which also, has security implication to the nation.
“Pastoralism is obsolete. It undermines National security. Land Use Act, environmental change as well as increase in population makes it impossible to go back to the practice of pastoralism. It is a distortion and window to seek exploitation. Cattle breeding must be seen as a private business. Cattle breeders must be taxed and made to contribute to National growth and development”, they stated.
The group frowned at President Muhammadu Buhari’s lackluster attitude over the killings, averring that he has failed to keep his oath of office to protect lives and property of Nigerians.
“Mr. President has betrayed the trust, confidence and goodwill of Nigerians. The Middle belt has continued to suffer marginalization and we refused to be colonized. The Federal government is twisting our value system and placing premium on livestock than lives of the citizens”.
They therefore called on FG to accept the global practice of ranching while also, appealing to the international community to intervene urgently by mounting pressure on President Buhari to stop the senseless killings of Nigeria citizens by herdsmen.
Furthermore, the group called on PMB and Nigeria government to align with the global terror index and designate Fulani herdsmen as a global terror group and prescribe Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, MACBAN and Miyetti Allah Kautai Hore, MAKH.
“We call for the removal of the Inspector General of Police Idris Ibrahim for incompetence, complicity and open partisanship with Fulani herdsmen, prosecution of leadership of MACBAN and MAKH. We call on the National Assembly to ensure the re-organization of the security architecture of the country, ensure the establishment of middle belt development Commission as well as restructuring of the nation with emphasize on creation of State Police”, he appealed.
