Group honours outgoing National Assembly finance director, others

The retiring director of finance and accounts in the National Assembly, Chieg Joseph Fishim Kaaba has been honoured for transparency and commitment to duty by the Tiv Forum in Abuja.
Kaaba who retired recently was honoured alongside other sons and daughters of Tiv extraction serving at the National Assembly at a ceremony in Abuja at the weekend.
Those who were also honoured include Mrs. Jummai Akaa, who retired as a Senior Executive Officer, Mr. Augustine Tile, Assistant Director Legislative, Barr. Nguyilan Wakombo, Assistant Director, Legal Services and Mr. Oscar Apesough, Committee Clerk in the Senate.
While conferring the honour on the awardees, the chairman of Tiv Forum at the National Assembly, Mr. Elijah Terseer Vanger said unity gives freedom and it makes groups to succeed adding that it is the need for unity that underlies the celebration of outstanding Tiv sons and daughters serving in the legislature.
He said “we are gathered here to honour and celebrate our very own retired director of accounts, Chief Joseph Fishim Kaaba and our sister and aunt, Ms Jummai Akaa.
“We thank God for giving them good health and opportunity to have served all those years and putting in their best for nation and community, God and humanity”
He appealed to Tiv leaders at various levels to support the younger ones and those who are striving to make a mark
I therefore appealed to our political leaders to open their doors and learn to lift us up because it has never been so, which is not encouraging “
Responding on behalf of the recipients, the outgoing director, Mr. Joseph Kaaba who was represented thanked the Tiv Forum for finding them worthy of recognition and appreciated those who contributed in one way or the other in helping them attain higher positions in their careers.
He promised never to let the Tiv nation down and appealed to other staff serving at the National Assembly to be dedicated to their duties as well as contribute to the development of their communities at home.
