From Femi Oyelola, Kaduna

The Southern Kaduna Volunteer of Good Governance (SKVGG) has expressed support for the recent call by the former Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Mustapha Jokolo on President Goodluck Jonathan to dump his Vice, Arc. Mohammed Namadi Sambo who he described as a political liability to the North, with no electoral value.

According to the group, the former emir made this call with no malice to the person of the Vice President nor did he used abusive words on the number two citizen, adding that Jokolo merely stated a truth that cannot be smothered by harassment and intimidation.

“Sambo may have nice personal qualities, but he is an irretrievably failed politician who has relied mainly on fate to reach h is present position. He lacks the political skills and personal charisma to harness his present job into good political fortunes for his party, PDP. He surrounds himself with persons of opaque characters and is totally removed from the main swath of northern electorate.

“Arc. Namadi Sambo has lost every election in his polling booth since he became number two citizen in 2010. If he claims to be the political leader of the North, then we from the Middle Belt do not feel it. He has never initiated any meeting with any groups, visited any of our traditional rulers and we cannot point at any federal project that he influenced for us.

“The rebellion by some northern governors against Jonathan is largely because Sambo is deficit in respect and clout to forge their unity”, the group said.

The group added that the 19 Northern states have never been this divided and lost much fortunes. Some parts of the North which include the Southern Kaduna has been neglected by the Vice President when he was a governor and any attempt by President Goodluck Jonathan to field him as his vice will stir negative passion.

The group who said it’s not campaigning for anybody is only stating the fact as indigenes of Kaduna State and the North.

Meanwhile, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kaduna State, Alhaji Rabiu Bako said the deposed Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Mustapha Jokolo has been told he is not the spokesperson for the North, hence he cannot direct President Goodluck Jonathan on who to pick as his running mate from the region.

The PDP chieftain added that Jokolo should tell the whole world when he became the spokesman for the people of Kaduna to the extent of advising President Goodluck Jonathan to do away with Sambo, politically

According to the PDP chieftain, Jokolo is hiding under his present predicament to drum support for somebody else in the firmament saying “he is not too surprised because we know where he is coming from and where he is going.”

He said it is advisable that Jokolo should keep quiet and remain where he is, pointing out that; “my joy is that Jonathan has not in any way denied or isolated Sambo as his running mate.”
