Civil rights group Transparency Watch Initiative has accused the Comptroller General of Immigration, Mr. David Parradang of sponsoring the protests that have trailed the recent recruitment exercise which resulted in the death of 8 people, leaving others injured.
President of the group, Edusote Folarin, who spoke to newsmen said the group had uncovered a plan by the Comptroller General to instigate protests and negative campaigns against the minister in a bid to divert attention from his faults and complications in the ill-fated exercise.
“…the protests you see today are not just borne out of loyalty to the nation as many believe. We have discovered that there are some government elements particular the chief culprit in this saga, parradang who is sponsoring campaigns against Morro to divert public attention from his faults”.
He said the unfortunate incidence which should have been an issue of sober reflection by all parties involved so as to look for ways to forestall further occurrences has become a means to politicking and money making.
The group has also called on the relevant agencies to investigate the involvement of the government officials in the ongoing propaganda war to avoid unnecessary heating of the polity, while also calling on anti-graft agencies to look into the use of public funds to fight government.
