From Omale Adama, Lokoja Governor Idris Wada, of Kogi state has called on the people of the state to be actively involved in agricultural activities to enhance massive food production and reduce poverty among the citizenry. He made the call recently, when the state Council of Traditional Rulers, led by its Chairman, who is the Attah of Igala, His Royal Majesty, Idakwo Michael Ameh-Oboni, paid him a courtesy visit at Government House, Lokoja. Captain Wada noted that his administration was determined to make Kogi state the food basket of the country, stressing that traditional rulers must take the clear message of going back to agriculture as the only antidote that can reduce poverty among the impoverished people of the state. The governor therefore, called on the traditional rulers and stakeholders in the state to continually pray for him for guidance, protection, strength and wisdom to pilot the affairs of the state to greater heights. As a mark of honour, he assured them that he was committed to the renovation of their palaces across the state, saying that his administration has already renovated that of Oguma in Bassa local government council of the state. He described the litigation process as unnecessary, as he prayed that such distraction and setback, which according to him, should never occur again in the state, noting that leadership of the state was just a transition as it was one person per time. The governor solicited the support of the traditional rulers for him to have a common cause to develop the state and called on those against him to come for a reconciliatory meeting for a way forward with unity as the watch-word. The Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Alhaji Dr. Ado Ibrahim who is the Secretary of Kogi state Traditional Council of Chief, spoke on behalf of the traditional rulers and commended the governor for the leadership quality. He said that all the traditional rulers in the state loved the governor and were also pleased with the way the governor has been handling affairs of the state. He assured the governor that they will continue to pray for him so that he can develop the state.
