Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle of Zamfara state HAS approved the immediate appointment of former NUJ Secretary, Zamfara State Council, Jamilu Iliyasu Birnin Magaji, as HIS Chief Press Secretary.
In a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Bala Bello Maru, the appointment takes effect since 14th of September 2019 and is therefore expected to assume duties immediately.
Until his appointment, the new Press Secretary served as News Editor at the state own radio and television stations in Gusau, the state capital and doubled as Master of Ceremonies in state government activities.
Jamilu Iliyasu Birnin Magaji, had contested for the office of the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Zamfara state Council in an elections conducted just a couple of months ago before the position was negotiated in favour of his opponent.
Speaking with newsmen shortly after the formal receipt of the appointment letter at Government House, Gusau yesterday, the new Press Secretary assured of dedication and hard-working towards polishing the good policies of the state government.
“I did not know that Governor Matawalle has put me on the watch, the development which made him satisfied that I can do the job. Therefore, I shall to the best of my ability, arise to fulfill his dream in that direction”, Malam Jamilu has assured.
