Yobe state governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni has commended Miyetti Allah cattle breeders’ association for its loyalty and support to state government’s policies and programme towards finding enduring peaceful coexistence with farmers.
He said that this has contributed in making the state one of the states in the federation that has remained free from the current clashes between the two groups.
He stated this yesterday when leading members of the association in the state, led by their National Secretary, Baba Usman Ngelzerma, paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House in Damaturu, the state capital.
He used the occasion to also commend and appreciate their support to him during the 2019 electioneering campaign resulting in election victory and his inauguration as the state governor.
He assured them of inclusion in government programmes that would benefit their members in the areas of education, approval of federal government’s RUGA settlement program, and protection from activities of cattle rustlers among others.
Earlier speaking, the National Secretary of the Association, Baba Usman Ngelzerma, told the governor that they were in the government house, first to congratulate him on his election victory and support for one of their sons to become the Speaker of the state House of assembly.
He appreciated the state government for procuring animal feeds and medicine and vaccines for the treatment and protection from infectious diseases common to the cattle and other reared animals, among other benefits being enjoyed by members of the association in the state.
He however appealed for the government to consider children of its members in the area of special education programme, especially now that the state government has set up a programme to resolve the problem of backwardness of the state in the sector.
