Yobe state governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni has promised that the government would procure 18-seater bus and office accommodation for the association of commercial tricycle operators in the state.
He made the promise yesterday when the state chairman of the association, Alhaji Umar Barau led other officials and members of the association to the Government House to plead for forgiveness for the recent event when some members of the association took to the street in protest for what they describe as police brutality, extortion and harassment on their members in the state.
He said he was neither informed, and disassociated himself, other officials from what happened and its impact and effect on the general public.
He however, used the opportunity to plead for official vehicle to enable the officials do their job of monitoring and coordinating the activities of its members.
In response, the governor promised to procure an 18 seater bus and an office for the association and directed the secretary to the state government to ensure the fulfillment of those promises.
Our state correspondent recalls that on 17th July, 2019, some members of the association took to the streets burning tires in protest for what they describe as police brutality, extortion and harassment on their members in the state.
