Gov. Bagudu charges Nigerian journalists to be objective

Kebbi State Governor Atiku Abubakar Bagudu has charged Nigerian journalists to be objective in their reporting by following the ethics of the profession through their union constitution.
The governor who dropped this hint yesterday at the NUJ press week and award night organized by the kebbi state chapter added that the profession has a lot to do by educating the masses and bringing unity to the societies.
He explained further that is the responsibility of the journalists to unite the people and promote democracy in the country not to bring disunity among the people.
“journalists has a vital role to play in promoting Peace and unity in any countries, we need to change our behavioural attitude by practicing the profession with decorum and not by deception, people should go on investigative journalism not to be sectional” he added.
In his remark, the National President of Nigeria Union of Journalists Comrade Abdulwaheed Odusue thanked the kebbi state governor for supporting his member in the state adding that more are need from him in order to give the profession supporting hands in discharging their duties.
“Kebbi NUJ need befitting Press Center as well as vehicle, the union as no single care for them to running the affair of the state and to performed their duties” he said.
The national president who said further that despite the hardship been experience by the Nigerian journalists, the Nigerian governments and politicians need to commend their efforts by helping them selling their products.
“Nigerian Journalists need to be commended by operating in a tied corner, the political elite should use the medium instead of social media to promote democracy and bring more sanity to the country,” he said.
Delivery his speech, the chairman of the occasion Senator Muhammadu Mogoro urged journalists to be objective and make an accurate balancing of their report.
“We are to bring unity, fairness and equity to the society, the era of practicing profession by blackmailing people has gone, you need to help this government by supporting the change agenda,” he added.
Also in his remark, the state chairman of the NUJ Aliyu Jarjarima expressed happiness to the kebbi state government for supporting the union members as well as upgrading the state owned media from analogy to digital communication, assured him of their support and cooperation towards achieving his aimed and objective in promoting and showcasing the government activities.
