Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State has expressed confidence with the conduct of local government council chairmanship polls as electorates came out in their multiples to elect their representatives at the local government levels.
Al-Makura who made the assertion on Saturday in an interview with news hunters immediately after he casted his vote,at the Lugun Wambai, Gayam ward, Lafia the state capital.
According to him” I am impressed with the massive turn out of electorates to exercise, their franchise. This is an indication that my administration’s policy is to ensure true democracy at all phases. The information I received showed that the conduct was successful in all the 13 local government Areas of the state. That is impressive” He said.
Also speaking in an interview with journalists on the exercise, the speaker Nasarawa state House of Assembly speaker Right Honourable Abdullahi Balarabe, who described the conduct in his constituency (Toto) as excellent as according to him” This exercise was carried out in a peaceful atmosphere and transparent in my constituency and the state at large.
Balarabe added that the exercise was an indication that democracy has come to stay at the grass root level and called on the people of his constituency to always embrace peace as well as stick to the APC administration at all levels in order to ripe the dividend of democracy.
The duo however applauded the electorates, security operatives and election observers for their role in ensuring peaceful elections across the state.
Consequently, the Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission Chairman Henry Omaku in a press conference yesterday announce the result of the Local Government Polls conducted on Saturday as follows:
Akwanga LGC, Samuel Meshi, Awe Umar Abubakar, Nassarawa Eggon Idris Danlami, Nasarawa LGC Mohamed Sani, Toto Nuhu Adamu Dauda, Karu Akala Samuel Gajere Others Are Kokona LGC Saidu Kuki Kaze, Keffi Abdulrahman Sani Maigoro, Doma LGC Robo Sani, Lafia Municipal, Aminu Mu’azu, Wamba LGC Abubakar Abbas, Obi Mohammed Oyimoga and Keana LGC Adamu Giza.
“All progressives congress APC won the Chairmanship election across the 13 Local Government Councils of Nasarawa State,” he concluded.
