Nasarawa State Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has ordered that local government workers in the state should be paid their one hundred percent December salaries prior to Christmas celebration.
The directive was announced by the Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Haruna Osegba yesterday during the last Local Government Council Joint Account meeting in Lafia the state capital.
The Commissioner who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Bala Sani added that the directive was aimed at ensuring that workers were able to meet up the demands of their family members.
Bala maintained that the government would continue to accord premium on workers’ salaries and welfare because they are the drivers of the economy.
The meeting which had in attendance all the thirteen LGC chairmen and 18 Development area overseers of the state.
