Governor Tanko Umar Al-Makura of Nasarawa State yesterday presented the 2015 fiscal year budget tagged “Budget of sustainability to the Nasarawa State House of Assembly for approval.
The Budget estimate size is one Hundred and Seven Billion, Nine Hundred and Four Million, eight Hundred and Ninety-one thousand, forty-five Naira (N 107, 904, 891, 045).
According to the Budget estimate, this shows a marginal decrease of five Billion, one Hundred and seventy-one Million, five hundred thousand, Nine hundred and twenty-three Naira (N 5, 171, 500, 923) or 4.79% lower than the 2014 appropriation.
The 2015 expenditure estimates include: Recurrent expenditure is Sixty three Billion, Four Hundred and Thirty-one Million, four hundred and fifteen thousand, Nine hundred and fifty-four Naira (N 63, 431, 415, 954) representing 58.79% while the capital expenditure is forty-four Billion, four hundred and seventy-three Million, four hundred and seventy-five thousand, Ninety-one Naira (N 44, 473, 475, 091) representing 41.21%.
According to him, Areas of focus would be geared towards completion of all on-going projects as well as the prioritization of new projects, step up the process of the construction of an Aerodrome in Lafia to improve transportation, investment and tourism as well as security, construction, expansion and rehabilitation of infrastructure in educational institutions.
He also highlighted other areas to include: Grant free education from primary to secondary school level, and to tertiary level for the physically Challenged, promotion of science education as well as
construction, upgrade and rehabilitation of health care services for the physically challenged others he mentioned are wealth creation through youth empowerment schemes and collaboration with Development Partners to enhance economic development.
Also in his speech, the speaker Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Honourable Musa Ahmed said that the house would look into the budget and work assiduously in ensuring that the budget is given swift approval.
