Gov. Abubakar approves N100m compensation for Islamic varsity land

Bauchi State Governor, Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar has approved the sum of over One Hundred Million Naira as compensation for land designated for the establishment of Islamic University in Alkaleri Local Government Area of the state.
The Director General, Bauchi State Geographical Information Service, Alhaji Baba Abubakar Suleiman announced the amount at a press conference in Bauchi yesterday.
Suleiman said the University will be supported by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
He said, “the Governor had also approved the allocation of Land to the Sustainable Development Goals Project for the construction of combined Junior and Secondary School in , other project approved by the Governor include, allocation of Land to the Federal Ministry of Works, Power and Housing for the construction of the second phase of the Federal Housing Programme in Azare, Katagum Local Government Area.”
The Director General said that, Governor Abubakar who is always committed to upheld the Rule of law had directed that all legally allocated titles granted right of Occupancy at BSADP which were revoked without complying with the extant laws should be re-instated and re-grant to all effected titled holders irrespective of political differences with immediate effect.
Suleiman who noted that ‘it is the exclusive right of the governor’ to approve or revoke land allocation alleged that the committee chairman had by that act, abused the land use Act which stipulates the exclusive power of the governor.
“ The decision of the committee chairman to revoke the land titles at BSADP Quarters was his unilateral decision and has lacked the authority to do so without recourse to His Excellency, the Governor’s approval and his decision has therefore regrettably misled the Government,” He pointed out.
He said their findings revealed that the committee chairman did not carry out thorough investigation on the alleged illegal land allocation but rushed to revoke the plots without consulting the service Suleiman said the governor also revoked the title of Maiwa Farms of about six hundred Hectares allocated and granted tittle to the Federal Ministry of Agriculture.
He said , the farm which is belong to the Bauchi Investment Company has already been retrieved from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture to the Bauchi State Government.
