Gombe State team have written a letter the League Management Company (LMC) over what the Savannah Scorpions called verbal threat. In a letter signed by the secretary of the club Bala Abubakar, the club called on the LMC to strengthen vigilance and security in their match against the league defending champions holding today at the Sani Abacha stadium in Kano. The Statement reads that this is necessary so as to curtail reported threats from football fans in Kano.
The Augustine Eguavoen-led team disclosed that the club have received verbal threats of potential security breech that would be detrimental to the spirit of sportsmanship. he team stated that Gombe United is poised to accept any result from the match in good faith, “but we wish to bring it into your notice of potential threats to the life of players, officials and the management of the Gombe United that will be in Kano for the match.”
The club also stated that the Savannah Scorpions lost their home match against Kano Pillars early this season which was free and fair and they accepted the result in the spirit of sportsmanship.
