From David Hassan, Gombe

The Speaker of Gombe state House of Assembly, Hon. Inuwa Garba has said the death of Gombe Emir, late Shehu Usman Abubakar came at a time when people of the state needed his services.

Hon. Garba, who made this known to newsmen yesterday, in Gombe, when he paid a condolence visit to Emir’s palace also said the deceased left a legacy that would not be forgotten to the people of the state, adding that the late Emir contributed immensely to the development of the state.

According to him, the late Emir, until his death, was a visionary and dedicated leader, who always wished to protect the interest of his people whenever he found himself and urged his successor to emulate his gesture while he was alive.

While commiserating with the people of the state, the Speaker enjoined them to love one another in order to sustain peace, stressing that without peace there would be no meaningful development in the country.

The Speaker also attributed the achievements made by the late Emir, which according to him, will go long way in maintaining peace and harmony among the people in the state as the late Emir made frantic efforts to ensure that traditional rulers in the state speak with one voice.

He said the death of the Emir did not only affect the citizens of Gombe but has equally affected the entire nation and prayed to God to give the family and the people of Gombe the fortitude to bear the loss.
