The National Youth Service Corps in Gombe state has trained 1,400 corps members in skill acquisition programme to enable them be self reliant in the society.
Speaking yesterday during closing ceremony of SAED at the NYSC orientation camp Amada state cordinator Mr. David Markson charged the participants to take their training seriously he noted that, that is the only way to achieve their desire goal.
According to him, government cannot provide white collar job to each every Nigerian there is urgent need to engaged in skill acquisition programme to enable youth have sense of belonging in the society.
He said NYSC orientation camps were able to train corps members in auto mobile, agro allied, food processing, power and energy, environment, culture and tourism, leather works, beats making, fashion design, film and photography, cosmetology, ICT, barbing, coconut oil processing and installation.
While speaking to some beneficiaries they said orientation camp has impacted their knowledge through skill acquisition programme which they said they can manage their lives without white collar Job.
Beneficiaries who could not hide their feelings appreciated the gesture rendered by the orientation camp saying our lives have been transform.
They solicited support from corporate bodies and individual to put more effort in transforming the lives of youth by empowering them through skill acquisition programme.
There was exhibition where officials of NYSC and the media were taking round pavilions to see some creativity made by the corps members during the training.
