Gombe APC faction wants wards congress nullified

From David Hassan, Gombe

Following wards Congress held to elect officials that will handle the affairs of the party ahead 2019 general elections, All Progressives Congress (APC) Adalci Advocacy group in Gombe has called on the National Convention Committee to nullify the precious Ward Congresses because of alleged political intrigue and manipulation that characterized the conduct of the exercise.
Speaking to reporters in Gombe after presenting their petition to the party Congress, Leader of the group Abubakar Aliyu appealed to the committee insisting that the ward Congress was funny and that such would not be accepted.
He appealed to the committee, as matter of urgency, to fixed a new date for Ward Congress in Gombe.
“We expect internal democracy; and internal democracy is the way to go. Those kind of funny politics that were played must stop; and we are calling the National Convention committee to take necessary steps to correct the affairs of APC in Gombe state and ensure that democracy is respected to the fullest he said.
“As far as we are concerned no election was conducted by the Chairman of the committee, Kawu Sumaila; and there was no election held throughout the state. Three members of ward committee did not turn up at the venue up to 6:00pm on election day, which thousands of party supporters congregated for the election at the ward level in the state.
“Absolutely clear that there were neither election nor consensus held at 114 wards in the state incompliance with party Constitution and guidelines to the Congresses,” Aliyu said.
