No fewer than 237 intending Christian pilgrims were said to have been airlifted from Gombe International airport to the Holy land in Israel.
Addressing the pilgrims before departure to the Holy land yesterday at Government House chamber in Gombe, Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo who was represented by his deputy Mr. Charles Iliya tasked the intending pilgrims to embark on the journey with high sense of humility.
He called on them to shun anything that will ridicule the image of the state as well as the nation in general.
Governor Dankwambo called on them to be good ambassadors while in the Holy land.
He enjoined them to always support government and its programmes, adding government in its decision will do everything possible to ensure that everyone is carried alone.
Speaking at the event Chairman Christians Pilgrims Welfare Board in Gombe His Royal Highness Abduction Maisheru who was represented by Rev. Isa Uba charged the pilgrims to behave in an orderly manner in the Holy land.
He said their traveling to the Holy land was aimed at offering prayer for the state and the nation.
The chairman called on them to do as much as possible in ensuring that their visit to the Holy land will served as vanguard of change.
Our correspondent reports that 25 intending pilgrims failed to meet the requirements by the Israeli embassy.
