Factional President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ambassador Chris Giwa made a brief appearance at the Glasshouse secretariat of the Federation on Monday saying he is the authentic President. Giwa had on Thursday last week approached a Jos High Court which nullified the election of Amaju Pinnick as President of the NFF.
It would be recall that Pinnick was elected as NFF President in a Congress which held at Warri, the Delta State capital where he beat other contestants like former NFF Secretary General, Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi, former international Dominic Iorfa and Amanze Uchegbulam.
Giwa who spent around 30 minutes in the office accompanied by a police escort said he was expecting Pinnick who he referred to as his “junior” in the game to approach him because he (Giwa) has been into football administration before Pinnick. Giwa added that he was expecting to be approached before the election in Warri where he could have also picked the expression of interest form. The Giwa FC of Jos owner however said Stephen Keshi still remain the coach of the Super Eagles while he said that Toyin Ibitoye is not and should not be seen as Super Eagles media adviser.
Giwa was elected NFF President in Abuja on August 26, 2014 at the Chida in Abuja polling 27 votes to beat his challenger, former vice president of the NFF, Chief Mike Umeh who got 2 votes.
