As part of the efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between Nigeria and Germany, German Consul -General in Lagos, Mr. Michael Derus yesterday said some German Naval ships will berth on Nigerian waters, aimed at boosting security in the country.

Though Derus didn’t disclose the number of the German Naval ships that would berth on the country’s water ways especially Lagos but said the ships will land on April 16th, this year.

The German Consul-General made this known during a courtesy visit to the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola in Alausa, Ikeja.

He registered an increasing interest of German companies not only to do business with Nigeria but also to see what they can contribute to vocational training which is a very strong side of the German economy.

Responding, Fashola, who pointed out that Nigeria, has had enduring relationship with Germany, noted: “It will be good to meet with the officers of the visiting ship when they berth on Lagos water.”

He said vocational training and education generally represent one of the twin pillars of human developmental index, adding that, “once people are well educated, they would acquire skills and the only thing they need is for them to be provided with the opportunity to put those skills to work and to be self-supporting.”
